News Detail
Sandhills native new coordinator for Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition
6/30/2009 6:34:57 AM

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition recently contracted Marcy Hunter as the NGLC coordinator. In this role, Hunter will be implementing workshops and tours across the state, handling grant fulfillment, and conducting communications and public awareness for the organization as part of her job responsibilities. She also oversees the Cowboy Logic Stewardship Network and the NGLC Rangeland Monitoring Program, and serves as the Nebraska representative of the national Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative.

Raised on a four-generation Nebraska Sandhills cow-calf ranch, Hunter grew up with strong conservation values. Her professional background includes working as Marketing Director for Pinnacle Bank, and most recently as Account Director for Pickering Creative Group in Lincoln. Hunter earned her BA from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in Journalism and Mass Communications.

“We, as Nebraskans, are very fortunate to have such a valuable and diverse natural resource in our own backyard," said Hunter. "It is vital to educate and create awareness of the Nebraska Grazing lands in an effort to conserve, preserve and optimize these abundant resources for generations to come.”

The Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition is an independent organization of ranchers, interest groups, and agencies whose mission is to collaborate on projects that improve the management and health of Nebraska grazing lands and ensure long-term stability of rangeland resources. The NGLC is funded through grants from the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Nebraska Environmental Trust, the Nebraska Rural Development Commission and the Sandhills Task Force.
