Central Platte NRD Board to Meet on December 15
(GRAND ISLAND, NE)- The Central Platte Natural Resources District will hold their monthly Board of Directors meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011 (a week earlier due to the Christmas holiday.) The meeting will be held at the NRD office located at 215 Kaufman Avenue in Grand Island. Following is a preliminary agenda:
--NRCS- Teri Edeal, resources conservationist of Lexington, and James Huntwork, district conservationist of Grand Island, will report to the board.
--Nominating Committee- The Nominating Committee will have recommendations for treasurer and secretary of the board; the election will take place at the January board meeting. According to the NRDís bylaws, directors are allowed to serve two consecutive two-year terms in each position. Jerry Wiese has served as treasurer since 2007 and is ineligible to serve another term. Jim Bendfeldt has served as secretary since 2009 and is eligible for another two-year term. Committee members include Alicia Haussler, Marvion Reichert and Jerry Wiese.
--Variance/Appeals Sub-Committee- A landowner from Dawson County has asked to speak to the committee about land that he recently purchased. Luke Zakrzewski, GIS image analyst will distribute the draft letter irrigation violators found in the western part of the district through the LIDAR satellite mapping system and will have an update on new violations.
--Water Resources Committee- Ron Bishop, general manager, will have a status report on the 30 Mile and Southside canal negotiations. The draft contract for rehabilitation on the Cozad Canal will be distributed with possible action. Bishop will also report on the proposed Integrated Management Plan.
--COHYST- Duane Woodward, hydrologist, will report on happenings with the Cooperative Hydrology Study.
--PRRIP- Mark Czaplewski, biologist, will have an update on the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program.
--Voting Representative- The board will elect a voting delegate and alternate for the Nebraska Association of Resources Districtís Legislative Conference in January.
--Other- As may develop prior to the board meeting.
