Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for Dec 18, 2008
Receipts: 1,291 Last Week: 4,142 Year Ago: 647
Compared to last week: Feeder cattle trend not applicable due to very
limited comparable sales available. Demand good for all classes. Slaughter
cows sold mostly 2.00-3.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher.
Slaughter and feeding cows made up 45 percent of the run; 54 percent feeder
cattle with the balance misc. cattle. In the feeder cattle supply 42 percent
were steers; 58 percent heifers. Approximately 42 percent of feeders weighed
over 600 lbs.
Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1: 395 lbs 114.00; 455 lbs 116.25; pkg 505
lbs fancy 105.50, 500-550 lbs 94.75-101.00; 550-600 lbs 89.00-89.75; 600-700 lb
calves 85.00-89.75; pkg 760 lb calves 82.25; 720 lbs 85.25.
Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1: 365 lbs 83.00; 450-500 lbs 86.50-91.75;
500-550 lbs 85.75-88.00; 550-600 lbs 78.00-83.50; 600-700 lb calves 76.50-83.75;
700-800 lb calves 78.00-81.25.
Feeding Cows and Cows returning to the country: Heifers 850-1000 lbs 79.00-
83.75; Heiferettes 700 lbs 72.00; young 750-1200 lbs 49.00-55.50, thin 42.00-
46.50; middle aged 700-1230 lbs 43.50-48.25, thin 40.00-42.00; aged 950-1350 lbs
