Monthly Hay Auction
Total Tons Offered: 843 Last Month: 1200 Year Ago: 847
Compared to last month: Small squares sold .50 to 1.00 lower on a per
bale basis, with the exception of Premium quality grass hay which sold 1.50
to 1.75 per bale higher. Large squares sold mostly firm on the better
quality, with lower qualities selling at weaker prices on a per ton basis.
Round bales sold steady on large round types. Straw sold .50 to 1.00 higher
on the small squares on a per bale basis. Corn Stalk large squares sold
10.00 to 30.00 per ton higher. Moderate to good demand was noted. Buyer
activity was good despite the bitter cold temperatures. The next hay sale
will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009.
