Cattle Special Bred Auction Open, Mid-Session, and Close for 12/30/2008
Receipts: 424 Two Weeks Ago: 2243 Last Year: 2781
Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows sold 7.00-9.00 higher with
slaughter bulls trading 5.00 higher. Outlets have opened up for slaughter
cows and bulls, following the holiday break. Demand was good for a nice
offering of replacement stock for the Afternoon Special. Feeder cattle were
not tested this week but a good run of near 4000 head are expected for next
Tuesday January 6, 2009.

Bred Heifers: Medium and Large 1-2 consignment 1045 lb 2nd-3rd stage
average quality black bred heifers 900.00, small pkg 1st stage 740.00 per
head.
Bred Cows: Medium and Large 1 2-4 year old 1200-1300 lb top quality
black 2nd-3rd stage bred cows 960.00-1060.00; similar 4-7 year old 1250-1410
lbs 850.00-1000.00. Medium and Large 1-2 2-4 year old 1200 lb average
quality black 2nd-3rd stage bred cows 910.00-1000.00, consignment mixed colored
and lower medium frame 1035-1215 lbs 800.00; 7 years to short and solid
mouthed 1200-1400 lb average quality 2nd-3rd stage bred cows 640.00-750.00, pkg
1285 lb mostly Large frame red cows 800.00; few short and solid mouthed to
aged 1200-1300 lbs 2nd-3rd stage bred cows 550.00-620.00 per head. Medium and
Large 2 pkg 6 year old 1285 lbs plainer quality black 2nd stage bred cows
740.00 per head.
Cow/Calf Pairs: Medium and Large 1-2 few 3-7 year old 1100-1350 lb mixed
quality cows w/150-350 lb calves 810.00-960.00 per pair.
