Green City - Green City Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 12/17/08
Receipts: 672 Week Ago: 2491 Year Ago: 1728
Compared with the previous auction; feeder steers and heifers steady
to firm on a light test. Slaughter cows 4.00-5.00 higher. Icy roads and
cold temperatures making it difficult to move cattle. Live and feeder
cattle contracts having a nice up week so far as improving fundamentals
have finally led to a rally at the CME. Demand moderate and supply light.
Cows and bulls accounted for 8 percent of the run and feeders 92 percent.
In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 48 percent of the run
and heifers 52 percent. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 30 percent.
Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1 400-500 lbs 108.25-119.00;
500-600 lbs 104.00-110.25; 600-650 lbs 99.00-106.00; Few 700-750 lbs
86.25-86.75, Fleshy 743 lbs 84.75. Medium and Large 1-2 Pkg 499 lbs
107.00; Pkg 507 lbs 104.00. Medium 1-2 Pkg 463 102.50.
Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1 Pkg 398 lbs 95.00; 400-500 lbs
86.50-96.00; 500-600 lbs 84.75-88.75; Lot 628 lbs 83.75. Medium and
Large 1-2 500-600 lbs 82.75-86.00, Fleshy 79.00-81.50; Pkg 610 lbs
83.50, Fleshy 613 lbs 75.00; Fleshy 700-800 lbs 73.50-77.00. Medium 1-2
Fleshy 485 lbs 73.00.
