Cow and Bull Auction Close for 12/17/08
Receipts: 495 Last Week: 1100 Last Year: 1604
Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold 3.00-4.00 higher and
slaughter bulls sold 3.00 higher. Temperatures across the area have
remained below freezing the last three days after receiving an accumula-
tion of sleet and freezing rain which has kept most secondary roads
difficult to navigate especially with a truck and trailer. Slaughter
buyers were more aggressive about securing cattle today than they have
been for some time. There was a light supply of replacement cows and
only a handful of cow/calf pairs. Supply was light and demand moderate
for slaughter classes.
NOTE: The next regular cow and bull sale will be held here on January
7th 2009.
