Feeder Cattle Auction Narrative Report for 1/05/2009
Estimated Receipts: 8500 Last Sale: 9472 Year Ago Monday: 11,605
Compared to last sale 12/15/08: Feeder cattle 4.00-7.00 higher, calves 5.00-
10.00 higher. Demand very good for all classes. Buyers active and aggressive
for numbers. Quality mostly attractive with most consignments No 1 native
cattle. Very few new crop, unweaned calves in the mix now. Weather cold but
none of the predicted freezing moisture as of yet. Supply included 80 percent
over 600 lbs and 37 percent heifers.
Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1: 300-400 lbs 124.00-127.50; 400-500 lbs
112.00-119.50; 500-550 lbs 106.00-116.00, lot fleshy 95.00; 550-600 lbs 100.00-
112.00; 600-650 lbs 96.50-103.00, thin 103.50-104.75, few calves 94.00-95.25;
650-700 lbs 94.50-100.75; few calves 92.50; 700-750 lbs 94.50-99.00, part load
calves 92.00; 750-800 lbs 95.00-98.75; 800-850 lbs 93.50-96.75; 850-900 lbs
92.50-95.75; 900-950 lbs 88.50-92.50; 985 lbs 86.00-90.75; few 1000-1050 lbs
88.00-96.50; lot 1060 lbs 83.00.
Medium and Large 1-2: 450-500 lbs 102.00-110.50; 500-600 lbs 94.00-108.50;
600-700 lbs 90.00-100.50; 700-800 lbs 91.00-95.75; 800-875 lbs 85.00-95.00.
Feeder Heifers Medium and Large 1: 265-400 lbs 105.50-115.00; 400-500 lbs
