Feeder Cattle Auction Narrative Report for Wed 12/17/2008
*** This is the last sale of the year as the OKC West Livestock Market
will be closed for the holidays. The next sale will be January 7, 2009.***
Actual Receipts: 1204 Last Week: 4470 Last Year: 4140
Compared to last week: All classes lightly tested due to cold
temperatures and icy conditions in parts of the state. Few sales of feeder
cattle sold steady to 2.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested
and 2.00-8.00 higher. Demand very good following 2 days of positive cattle
futures. Supply consisted of 54 percent over 600 lbs; 39 percent under
600 lbs; 14 percent cows and bulls. Supply included of 38 percent heifers.
Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher, except Boner cows 1.00-2.00 lower.
Slaughter bulls not well tested but firm undertone noted. Total of 166 cows
and bulls sold with 66 percent going to packers.
